A bit belated to say the least as our 2nd birthday was actually on the 17th of this month but a post is better than no post.
So we're 2 years old now and a very different guild to when we first started out back in The Burning Crusade. Heck back then we weren't even sure if we were even going to be a raiding guild, we were just a small bunch of friends. But since then we've grown, take onboard people who had never raided before and getting all the way up to Kil'Jaeden.
We've had our shares of ups and downs and Wrath of the Lich King has been a rather bumpy ride to say the least with people coming and going, new officers and a completely different raid progress structure.
This time last year we were celebrating our first Illidan kill, I would've liked to have been celebrating our first Yogg-Saron kill but unfortunately he's proving a bit elusive right now. However we are there and hopefully the kill will be incoming soon.
WoW is constantly changing and we've continually tried to adapt to it but we've always tried to remain true to our core of being a guild that is about friendship, having someone to enjoy the game with, above all else. We've had a few blips where we've lost track of this and sometimes it's been very hard to work through it and it is testament to those members who have been here, both old and new a like, to keep going.
So Happy 2nd Birthday, a more reflective one at that but here's hoping in a years time we'll be celebrating our 3rd birthday.
Mimiron got one shotted after a load of failed tries last week and 2 cancelled raids this week. First try of the night, boom and the oversized toy broke.
Vezax went down, a couple of wipes due to MASSIVE DAMAGE. Kill wasn't smooth but it was a kill.
All deaded. Possibly could've got even further but sadly had a fail slack day which meant we missed a raid. Overall though a good week and hopefully we'll be knocking on the door for some Yogg-Saron tentacle rapage next week.
Boring Pics attached, new ones and spiffy new site incoming SOON.
Welcome Traveler...
I see you've found our corner of the internets. Are you looking to raid at the absolute top-end of World of Warcraft raiding content? Are you tired of farming The Obsidian Sanctum, The Eye of Eternity and Naxxramas? Are you a committed and dedicated individual who knows the ins and outs of their class and is willing to give it 110% everytime? Do you know that WoW is a game and is intended to be FUN?
If you answered yes to all of the above then you might be just what Paradigm Shift is looking for!
About Us
We're made of former experienced end game players (both Horde and Alliance) who grew tired of the oldschool 6 days, dkp run, hardcore raid schedule. We still want to do endgame content but we feel that doing it shouldn't have to dictate people's lives for 6 nights a week. Mainly we are a bunch of friends who want to enjoy the game, and looking for people who are similar minded and do not become too sidetracked in the '/flex e-peen' quest for PURPLZ or Server Firsts (though they would be nice). Sure we want to excel at PvE, but we're also about having fun and enjoying, rather than becomming regimented, strict and run into all the other associated drama over things like DKP.
The average age of our members is around 20, we all have University/Work/Family commitments so we understand what IRL can be like.
What do we Expect from you?
We expect you to be a friendly person who's willing to help out, with a level head and a good sense of humor. You need to have access to Ventrilo and a microphone would be a plus. We expect you to be fairly active and to tell us if you're going to be going away or migrating or whatever, not just stealth leave or not turn up to anything without saying a word.
What classes do you need?
You can check our recruitment status at any time by looking at the Recruitment box on our home page. However even if your class is currently full, don't hesitate to make an application as we may still take you. We will however be taking a scrutinising look at your talent spec, gear, gemming and glyphs so if you have anything odd or quirky about them expect to be grilled about them.
What are your raiding times?
We raid from around 20:15 - 00:00 every night of the week apart from Fridays and Saturdays which are our off days. If you've just read that and thought 'Oh crap, hardcore' think again as we don't REQUIRE you to be on every night of the week and we do our best to rotate everyone around each night so people get their fair share of raid content each week.
This does not, however, mean you can simply come on and off at your own discretion. We appreciate that you notify us in advance of times you can't be on, for whatever reasons, so we can plan in advance who we will take... rather than people logging on at raid times just to find a canceled raid because not enough people have turned up and no-one said anything, which isn't fun for anyone involved.
How do you distribute loot?
We use a system called Effort Points Gear Points which awards members with fixed point values for boss kills and raid attendance (EFFORT POINTS) and fixed point values for each item they recieve (GEAR POINTS). We then calculate a Priority Rating by dividing Effort Points by Gear Points. It is a simple, yet fair, system that ensures that newcomers will get loot and that veteran's will get items they've been seeking for ages. There are some fixed priorities on things like Tanking items, these will be explained upon joining the guild.
Who are the Officers/Classleaders?
Guild Master: Minako
